Armed & Paramilitary Forces

Service matters of personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces and the armed forces — discharge, invalidment, disability pension and disciplinary action.

What we do

Typical matters

  • Discharge, invalidment and medical categorisation
  • Disability and war-injury pension
  • Departmental and summary force trials
  • Promotion, seniority and posting disputes
  • Denial of family pension and benefits

Personnel of the CAPFs and the armed forces are governed by their own statutes and rules, and their service disputes are decided under a distinct disciplinary code. The firm acts for serving and retired personnel in discharge and invalidment, in disability and war-injury pension, and in proceedings arising from departmental and summary trials.

A significant part of this work concerns medical categorisation and its consequences: whether a disability is attributable to or aggravated by service, and what follows for pension and continued employment.

Principal statutes

  • Central Reserve Police Force Act, 1949
  • Border Security Force Act, 1968
  • Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force Act, 1992
  • Army Act, 1950 and the rules made under it
  • Central Civil Services (Extraordinary Pension) Rules
