Education Service Matters

Employment disputes of teachers and staff of private schools, aided and unaided, and of universities and colleges.

What we do

Typical matters

  • Dismissal, removal and reduction in rank of school staff
  • Approval of disciplinary action by the Director of Education
  • Salary, arrears and pay-scale disputes
  • Appointment and promotion of college and university teachers
  • Recognition and management disputes affecting staff

The Delhi School Education Act, 1973 gives employees of recognised private schools a statutory remedy against dismissal, removal and reduction in rank, exercisable before the Delhi School Tribunal. The firm appears before the Tribunal for teachers and non-teaching staff, and in the writ proceedings that follow.

We also act in the service disputes of university and college teachers, where appointment, promotion and the application of UGC regulations are in question.

Principal statutes

  • Delhi School Education Act, 1973 and Rules, 1973
  • University Grants Commission Regulations
  • Article 226 of the Constitution of India
